July is Ice Cream month!
President Ronald Reagan selected July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day, in 1984. He acknowledged ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that it is enjoyed by 90% of the nation's population. In the announcement, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."

Get Healthy with Big Red!
The Dairy Council is helping to start future milk consumers on the right track with positive dairy and nutrition messaging. They have teamed up with Big Red the Cardinals mascot to do a nutrition and physical activity program called "Getting Healthy with Big Red". Click here to get Big Red at your school.

All the tools you need are in a free Wellness Activation Kit for your school. This kit will help your students make positive changes when it comes to their eating and exercise habits. It will also help your school achieve its wellness goals.

Use Low-fat Milk, Cheese, and Yogurt for healthier school meals!
USDA has developed a fact sheet for use by school nutrition professionals to assist in planning healthier school meals. The first one was released last week focusing on using low-fat milk, cheese, and yogurt.
