Ronald Reagan declared July as National Ice Cream Month in 1984. He recognized that 90% of America's population enjoyed ice cream and called for the people of the U.S. to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities."

Fuel Up To Play 60
Created in partnership by National Dairy Council and the National Football League, Fuel Up to Play 60 is a program that empowers youth to take action in their school and for their own health. The goal of the program is to make long-term changes in the school's nutrition and physical activity.
Fuel Up to Play 60 program reaches youth directly to get their friends and school to expand opportunities for physical activity and increase availability of more kid-appealing, good-tasting, nutrient-rich foods, such as 1% chocolate milk, salad bars, yogurt and fruit parfaits, and whole grain pasta and breads. Farm tours are a great way to get to know your local dairy farmers. You learn all about life on the farm and see how agriculture benefits our community. There are currently 2 farms offering farm tours one in the East Valley and one in the West Valley, there is also a farm tour in Stanfield near Casa Grande. Wherever you are there is a farm near you! Cheese Curds
Cheese lovers are sure to love the newest addition to the Milk N' More store in Tempe! They are now offering FRESH cheese curds made on site. Cheese curds are basically a young form of cheese, before it has been aged or pressed into a cube form. When they are fresh they will squeak when you bite into them, giving them the nickname "squeaky cheese". Cheese curds are available FRESH and at their squeakiest EVERY THURSDAY at 1:00 pm. Get Healthy with Big Red!
The Dairy Council is helping to start future milk consumers on the right track with positive dairy and nutrition messaging. They have teamed up with Big Red the Cardinals mascot to do a nutrition and physical activity program called "Getting Healthy with Big Red". Click here to get Big Red at your school.

While recently there has been a national focus on eliminating child obesity throughout the country, in Arizona, Cheyenne Elementary has shown that focusing on small, realistic improvements can be the first step toward that goal. Out of all the 1,124 schools participating in Fuel Up to Play 60, Cheyenne was selected as the statewide winner of the Fuel Up to Play 60 nationwide online competition. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a national program developed by National Dairy Council, Dairy Council of Arizona and the National Football League that centers on helping youth make their schools a healthier environment.
